Charley Hutchinson: Eagle Scout Project

charley

Charley realized that not all kids in Jackson can afford to buy new books and cannot always get to a library. He and his friends had tons of books that they only read once and then put on a shelf.

Charley is a scout with Troop 1 and decided to do his Eagle Scout project centered around his love of reading, so he collected gently used books for Good Samaritan. Good Sam allows clients to get books for free, while waiting for service through the social services office with food and clothing. As well as through social services, the Center does sell some books through NUTS - Neat Used Things for Sale at a very low cost - only $1 for Hardbacks and .50 for Paperbacks.

Charley collected books for about a one month period from friends, family and neighbors. What he collected was astonishing. Over 1,600 BOOKS!

Thank you, Charley!! Love, The Good Sam Crew
