Food Assistance

The Good Samaritan Center’s food assistance program helps individuals and families who are either in the process of applying SNAP benefits (food stamps) or having a verifiable food emergency. In both cases, food assistance is given for the entire length of verified need or emergency.

Our Current Food Programs:

  • MAIN PROGRAM
    • Client must be in the process of applying for SNAP benefits, or willing to apply. The agency will assist the client with a week’s worth of groceries each week until client begins receiving SNAP benefits. Once a client receives SNAP benefits, the agency will assist with food once a month.
  • ONCE A MONTH – COVID ASSISTANCE
    • Regardless of SNAP benefits, we will assist the client once deemed eligible through interview process which analyzes income and expenses. Client must live in Hinds County.
  • MIDTOWN RESIDENT
    • Client must provide proof of Midtown residency. We will provide food to you, regardless of income and expenses, once every quarter.

We can also assist you with applying for SNAP benefits if you are eligible and not receiving benefits yet.

Families MUST bring in ID & Social Security cards for parents in the household, social security cards for all dependent minors in the household, custody paperwork if the children in your household are not your biological children, and a recent lease or utility bill to confirm your residence.
We offer food services Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
